Review on Kanguru FlashTrust WP KFT3 Drive WP KFT3 64G by Michael Floyd

I recently bought a 64GB FlashTrust USB3.0 flash drive from Kanguru. I bought it because I needed a drive that I could plug into an untrusted computer (that didn't have an optical drive) to boot for diagnostic and forensic purposes. Applying signed firmware should provide protection from BadUSB-style attacks (I haven't tested this), and the write-protect switch should protect it from other malware. The physical write-protect switch worked well. If the drive is unlocked, the operating system will mount it for read and write access, if it is locked, it will be mounted for read access. If you mount in the unlocked position and then switch to the locked position, the write operation will fail even though the OS thinks it's a read-write operation. I ran tests with file sizes of 10MB, 100MB, and 1000MB. In the first two cases, the average read speed was 206.9 MB / s, and the average write speed was 150.3 MB / s. Everything became more interesting for the 1000 MB test. Around 18% write performance fell in the test from an average of 150 MB/s to 88 MB/s, after 49% the write performance fell to an average of 16 MB/s, after 69% the write performance improved to an average of 88 MB/ss (see first image) . Sample size 1000.0 MB (100 samples). : 84.6MB/s Maximum write speed: 153.8MB/s. Average access time: 0.46 ms (1000 samples). The second time around, write performance was more stable at an average of 85.6 MB/s (second image). If you need secure firmware and a physical write protect switch, this is one of the few suitable products. There are other drives that offer a much more attractive performance/capacity/price ratio.
