I bought this basically to get live network streaming on a smart tv that I didn't have connected to a cable. I liked the idea that it could be mounted on a TV and be fairly discreet. The connections are a bit confusing and in fact it worked much better for me without the signal booster. The mechanism to put it on the set is pretty flimsy and doesn't feel tight - you have to rely a little on balance to keep it there. Now that I had it on my TV and using the amp I couldn't see a single channel (I need to pick up about 30 from cell towers within 30 miles of my house - and the range is advertised as 55 miles). I turned off the amp and found 6 channels - PBS and Homeshopping. I played around with placement a bit and in the end, after removing the antenna from the top of the TV and placing it on a shelf on the side, I was able to receive 29 channels. On the channels I picked up, the picture quality is excellent, with no noticeable lag or degradation (unless I get too close to the antenna). I won't be returning, but I'm a bit disappointed that I can't discreetly mount it on top of the set like I intended - I think design-wise a side-mounted clip would be a great option as the TV can be placed on either side facing your transmission towers. If you bought this and are disappointed, try a few positions and try turning off the built in amplifier. For under $30 to get live NFL games on Fox and CBS I think it's worth it.
