In an attempt to save some money rather than buying pre-made sparkling water flavored syrups from my new Saturator I bought a few books on how to make my own. One reason is that most ready meals contain sugar and I want a diet syrup. So I made some really good syrups with erythritol as a sweetener, as is normal for diabetics. In any case, many of them require a small amount of lemon or orange zest when making syrup, and that's why I got this zest - I tried using the metal side of my cheese grater and almost peeled off the top layer of skin (and added finally adding blood to the raisin I was given) from my fingers. This peel is safe and a lot easier to get when I need some peel for my syrup recipes. The included brush allows you to quickly remove any small bits and I love that it comes with a lid so I don't accidentally touch the bowl with my hand and get bowl on my hand! A great addition to the kitchen if you make a lot of things from scratch.
