Actual shades are approximately 1.5 inches shorter than the body on either side. The image looked like it was 0.5 inch or less. Still doable for my windows because of the type of paintwork. This can be an obstacle for others, so be aware. Installation is easy if you use your own screws. The ones that come with the blinds will not work as the screw head tends to detach from the body when drilling. The edges of the blinds are a little frayed, not much but if you look closely you can see the threads are shedding like you would see from old lace. I can handle that I think. I will be back to see how they hold up over the long term but given the quality at the moment I'm a bit skeptical. UPDATE Bought for two windows. The 23x72 appears to have some manufacturing issues, both had the second layer of the shutter torn off and the roll fell completely to the floor. I like how the first one looked so I'm trying a third time to see if they can send me a working 23" version. I keep my fingers crossed.
