However, it looks and works exactly the same as our previous one which broke after around 16 months of use.

The new one opens cans normally, but makes an unpleasant rattling noise. Our original didn't make as much noise, but one of its long plastic handles broke off. I often try to fix and improve things that break, but in this case it didn't seem worth my time compared to buying a new one. My wife has arthritis which makes it difficult for her to take things with her. Hands, so a power can opener should not be missing in our kitchen. This model has good ergonomics and is comfortable to use. Let's see how it goes. If we don't get a satisfactory lifespan, we'll try another species.

Pros
  • Not only usable for the intended purpose
Cons
  • Defects available
