This is a cable. Why was it so difficult? let me tell you After spending TWO days trying to figure out why CHIRP didn't recognize the radio was connected, I turned to the online radio forums to troubleshoot the issue. After trying a few Macs, I dusted off an old idle Windows 8 machine that I had never thrown away. It recognizes the cable, but Twitter still can't find the radio. After trying everything people suggested on the radio forums, one person sent me a message with instructions on how to get around this. Now I'll try something. Guess what? It worked. Do you want to know what it was? The chipset in this cable is a FAKE Prolific clone. I had to download an archived driver from 2007 before Prolific added anti-piracy measures to the driver to prevent counterfeit chipsets from working with their drivers. THIS CABLE WORKS - BUT ONLY AFTER A WOOD WORKAROUND WHICH SHOULD NOT BE REQUIRED. Thanks to the Chinese brand, the names are almost always fake and fakes are real. I've also received fake Sandisk cards through the Amazon supply chain, so I shouldn't be too shocked.
