I will start by saying that as a woman who shaves her legs/armpits there is a learning curve with any safety razor and the potential for cuts and snips is higher than a standard razor, if you're not careful. However, I think that this type of razor also offers a closer shave, apart from being more economical and environmentally friendly, so choosing one over the other depends on your priorities I guess. I bought this razor to compare to the butterfly razor I bought a few years ago which I liked on the above points but was a little tricky to maneuver as I kept pressing on the dial to turn opening the butterfly hinges to gain access to the blade which allows the blade to shift and score more hits. This shaver does not have this feature; Instead, you sandwich the blade between two pieces that then screw into the handle, and I found it much more secure. She won't move if I don't want it to. If you're curious about the composition of this razor, it's three piece and all metal so quite heavy and it also has a textured grip to make it easier for you to hold. it is wet. It is compatible with any reversible blade which I believe needs to be changed every 2-4 shaves to keep it performing at a high level. I recommend purchasing a blade pack for blade disposal. Aesthetically (because theoretically I'll be looking at this thing for a very long time) it's a beautiful, expensive instrument (I have a "rose gold" one). I like that it's not inherently "male" or "female".
