So far, so good! Best Batteries & Chargers

A few months ago I had a strange problem with my Wii U controller. When plugged in, it tends to disconnect/reconnect to the charger when moved. Even the smallest, barely perceptible movement can cause it. It gradually got worse to the point where it was happening almost continuously unless it was completely still, the screen would flicker constantly as the brightness changed due to the ever changing state of the charging connection. I didn't know if it was a charger, battery or gamepad connector. After testing the charging dock connector and seeing that the issue persists, I ruled out the gamepad connector as I had never used a charging dock before. I also doubted the battery was the culprit since I leave it 99% charged. As soon as I plugged in the new charger, I saw the orange LED light up for a few seconds (the gamepad dies even when it's off, like all batteries). ). It was a bit of a hassle to connect it to the gamepad as it was very tight. I then turned on the Wii U to try it out. I left the gamepad on all day and used it for a total of a few hours. The screen never flickered and the orange LED never came on while plugged in and in use. I was right; The old charger was loose and this charger's very good fit solved the problem! Pros: - Works like an OEM charging cable. Special adapters are not required. -Cheap. The brand new OEM charger is around $20 on the Nintendo eShop. Refurbished, I think it's $15. This costs less than $10. The tight fit ensures that a loose connection will no longer be a problem, at least for a while. Cons: - At least a few centimeters shorter. The side of the power adapter that plugs into an outlet is actually a few inches longer, but the side that plugs into the controller/charger port could be a foot shorter or even longer. I didn't bother to measure or see the exact dimensions. The size difference wasn't a big deal to me given my setup, but I used Command Tape to attach the power bank to the side of the bedside table closer to the top to give it more wiggle room so it's comparable to the old charger. The tight fit of the cable on the charging port is almost too tight. At first I had to work a little, mainly because I didn't expect it. Not OEM so it may or may not last. Only time can tell. No connection to the power supply via the USB port. This can be useful for those who find it easier to connect to a computer. I don't really need a USB charger, but I can see that some prefer it. * I will post an update if it is less than 2 years. The old cable worked fine for 2 years with a few tweaks, so if this one fails much sooner I'll write about it. At the moment I give 5 stars.
