I was against consoles and only played on Switch but wanted to, PS4 Slim becoming my home office (vs lol) into a gamer's corner + home office. I'm new to PS4 and once I realized it needed a vertical stand I liked that it's compact but also offers a fan and chargers. The fan works well - it's moderately noisy - like the average laptop fan. You don't have to crank the volume up too much to drown it out, or I use headphones most of the time (husband plays at a little more volume). The plugs that plug into the DS4 to dock them are very small and discreet - just make sure you don't lose them if you don't leave them plugged into the controllers. I think it's more of a system limitation related to how the PS4 behaves, but I see that the base loses power fairly quickly in sleep mode. I think you could get around this by plugging the base into an outlet instead of the PS4, or perhaps through the PS4's settings. It's been fine - so far we haven't had any issues charging the DS4 (same for the fan, chargers and also the USB ports I think). The only thing I wish this worked differently is that I would like the fan to turn on by default as soon as it has power because sometimes I forget to turn it on. It has a snap-on piece of plastic that holds the Slim in place (holds an OG PS4 I think, but not a Pro without a liner). It's solid enough but we don't have kids so nobody messes with it - I don't know if I can fully trust it with kids. All in all, this is a good upgrade for our PS4.
