I thought it was a sticker (it was already on my Switch and I wanted to replace it) and was pleasantly surprised that it was more of a thin bar on the lid. It didn't match the sticker so I had to take it off, but I planned on doing it anyway. Fits perfectly and fits seamlessly. If I drop it, it probably won't protect the switch very much, but I didn't buy it for that reason, so overall I like it.
