It actually sits firmly without falling out.

I've tried several alternatives (mostly silicone) and these were the only ones that didn't fall out in a light wind. They are easy to remove, but create additional "friction" afterwards. So when you pull on it, you might even pull on your device. I use them to close the upward facing connectors on all of my surge protectors.
