These are incredibly soft when you get them, but even one wash reduced the appealing fluff to more of a matted dog look than a plush and pampered pet. They (I bought two) were intended to be a nice soft layer over two of my dog's Coolaroo beds to reduce the chill in winter, but they aren't even as thick as a summer-weight blanket and one of my dogs already ate hers! (They only weigh a few ounces and feel nothing like a rug.) If I had paid a few dollars for these I wouldn't have considered it quite such a loss to have it destroyed almost immediately, but for almost $25 it was a heavy loss. I would have been better off to just buy a yard of faux fur for the job. These might work well enough in a space where no one walks (just for looks) or on a chair or sofa as a snuggle layer, but as a rug (especially if you have dogs) they aren't in any way worth the price.EDITED to say that even though I am a Vine Voice member, this was not a free or promotional item.
