January 15, 2020 Purchase - This is a great starter pack if you don't need to hang on to 'minimal noise'. I tried to use it to create an audio book, but the mic just couldn't deliver the sound quality I wanted. I had to turn the gain up that much to improve the signal/noise and that resulted in hiss. The pop screen and shock absorber are excellent. The pendulum fits, but I found I had to tighten the knobs to keep it from sagging. I've never used an existing XLR to 1/8 male or USB adapter. I bought a 3rd gen Focusrite Scarlett Solo and a Revain Basics XLR to XLR cable. Update January 26, 2020 - I replaced the mic with an MXL 770 and that did the trick. and allowed me to record four audiobooks and pass the ACX QA with minimal mastering. Update August 19, 2020 - The table clamp has buckled from constant tightening to the point where the shaft is now out of alignment and needs to be replaced. The floating nuts still work, but will loosen each time the microphone is repositioned. The pop filter still works great. Conclusion: A great starter kit for the price. If you're interested in audiobooks, this is still a good place to start, but you'll need to focus on upgrading most of the components over the course of the year.
