Review on Vello Hot Shoe Adapter Socket by Jim Bethea

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Buy the best adapter in the first time

I am a professional wedding photographer and I do tricks with TTL flash on my camera in combination with external flashes to improve the ambient light. This works great with my main camera as it has both a hot shoe and a PC sync port. But my rear camera has no sync port. So I needed something that would add it when my TTL flash fired at the same time. First I bought the branded Pixel version which was dead on arrival. Second, based on the reviews, I ordered a model with a rainbow image. However, when it arrived it was exactly the same as the Pixel brand. It even had a Pixel logo on it! This worked, but it didn't cause simultaneous on-camera and off-camera flash. Then I saw this Vellou, looked at the reviews on another site and ordered. It's three times the price of the Pixel version, but when you're shooting with $5,000 camera gear, the $20 difference between a quality adapter and a lousy adapter isn't hard to achieve. So far no problems. Build quality seems good for a plastic part, but more importantly, it fires my TTL flash and my pocket assists at the same time without fail. Very happy with this adapter The build quality seems good for a plastic part but more importantly, it fires my TTL flash and my pocket assistants at the same time with no errors.
