I spent about 45 minutes kneading some old Sculpey clay, it was still pliable but stiff. I wanted to be able to easily shape him without torturing him or my hands to death. The amount of fabric softener I had to put in was proportional to the small amount of old Sculpey, I used A LOT and had to knead and knead and knead. As a result, after breaking it, I got the consistency of grated cottage cheese. But my hands have had a good rehydration session. Folks, if you have an old Sculpi and want to go past the dollar to save a dime, leave it! You throw out the old stuff and start over with fresh Sculpey. Here's what I'm going to do - start over with fresh sculpi. And don't hesitate next time. By the way, I've googled a lot of home remedies for sculpi stiffness and tried a few of them but all to no avail. The Sculpey thinner was the last try.
