Review on Black Audio-Technica ATH-M50X Professional Grade Studio Monitor Headphones with Detachable Cable - Critically Acclaimed by Bima ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A good quality product, I rate this purchase perfectly.

After re-reading a lot of laudatory reviews as about "the best ears in their class," I took them with caution. More than once I came across that the product, especially related to the sound, which many describe as "super cool", in fact, I did not like. The situation with the M50x, thank God, did not happen again. The product is really high quality! For you to like it, you need to love the closed sound scheme, when the sound is close and tight. If you love spatial sound, check out the open circuit headphones. I am very pleased with the purchase, the headphones are excellent for everyday use, both for movies and for games and for music, whether on a computer or on a phone / player.

Pros
  • 1. Sound quality. The sound here is balanced, there are no mega-basses like in the Sony XB series, which can be heard everywhere, even when the damn violin is playing =) But the basses here are excellent, they are very gentle, they just caress the ear with their elasticity and you don’t want to add them at all. What is important, they are only where they should be: there are tracks without bass at all, you start a track with drums and the stage is filled with dense elastic bass. At the same time, that the mids and high frequencies are available and are not drowned out by these basses at all, that is, all the instruments that play equally are heard - this is exactly what a balanced sound is in my understanding. 2. Assembly. High-quality plastic, there is no laxity, everywhere everything is spinning as if on grease with effort. 3. Soundproofing. Excellent, you can pile on the volume to the fullest even if people are sleeping nearby. The ear pads are soft leather, not thin, should not tear with careful use. 4. Landing. They sit firmly - I think you can even run in them, softly - there is no feeling of fatigue on the head or near the temples even after continuous 2 hours. Due to the many degrees of freedom, they fit well to the ears. The headphones themselves are smaller than they seem in the pictures, quite compact, the ears sweat minimally under them, but under the skin, in any case, they will sweat in a few hours, either the skin or the fabric that wipes and absorbs sweat.
Cons
  • I wrote this review with the Audio-Technica M50x on my head under the megabit tracks of the Lindsey Stirling album in FLAC format. The Foobar2022 player helped to play all this with direct sound output via ASIO from the ASUS STRIX RAID DLX sound card. On this configuration, it all sounds simply amazing, sometimes even to the point of goosebumps. The only point (some have noticed it as a drawback of the M50x) is the sound volume. The sound is close dense "cozy" - a closed sound scheme in one word. Some may not have enough space. Direct output via ASIO does not allow you to use proprietary sound card enhancers, but by switching to DirectSound or WASAPI you can tweak everything you want, including adding virtual 3D sound. Personally, I like the closed circuit and the maximum I can do is edit the equalizer.
