Review on πŸ’» 5-Pin Female PC Fan Adapter Cable for Dell Motherboards by CRJ by Ben Barrington

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not compatible with Dell motherboards and BIOS requirements

5-pin connector on my Dell 990 Optiplex. The fan turns on and works; However, the BIOS does not recognize the fan and throws an error at startup. There are two ways to work around this: 1) On (reboot), press the F12 key to open the boot menu; A fan error will appear, but you can press F1 to go to the boot menu and select a normal boot device. or 2) I changed the UEFI setting in the BIOS and now I don't need to press F12 or fix the error. Windows boots directly** NOTE/WARNING. If you don't know what you're doing or don't trust your abilities, I hesitate to encourage the average user to fiddle with the BIOS settings; You can definitely mess up your system by messing around with the BIOS. This key appears to be just a pass-through wire. If it could completely replace Dell's horribly noisy fan I would happily give it 5 stars and definitely recommend it. Be that as it may, I would only recommend this product to more technically savvy people on a situational basis.

Pros
  • Adapter cable to connect standard 3-pin and 4-pin PC fans to proprietary 5-pin fan connector
Cons
  • Long wait
