Bought to use smaller luggage and still pack what I needed on a long trip. They are definitely suitable for this. I was able to pack 4 sweaters for a 9 day trip and still close my suitcase. However, there are a few questions. Once you deflate it gets rock hard and heavy. There is no way to maneuver in a suitcase. And when I say difficult. Wow. Medium sized luggage that weighed 35 pounds. I'm glad I checked it out because I wouldn't be able to get it over my head. When we came back I did NOT use them or pack my clothes like you do for hiking and I had even more space but with more manoeuvrability. They do what they say they are great hence the 5 stars but it didn't really work for what I needed in the end.
