Feeling defeated in your trash can?

I Bin drawers used to be a desirable feature in the kitchen just for the minimalist/clean look that hides the bin and saves space. Now I know the truth. It's time to buy a new trash can. A household item I've somehow managed to avoid my entire life thanks to roommates who already have it and then give it up. The one I had was just too tight, tearing his sack made it too full as you struggled to take out the trash. And it was short enough for our 1 year old dog to sniff the lid and climb inside. I started my quest thinking it would be a lot easier and less time consuming than finding the cat tower. Then an hour passed and I felt less confident but still hoped that the search would end soon. Another hour passed and all hope was lost. It reminds me of the 30 Rock episode where they were tasked with building a "giant fragile microwave". If you don't have the privilege of being able to snag a basic trash can because you don't have a covered area to collect odors and keep pets out, you face the reality of having to shell out over $50 for a trash can. of which appears to be $80+ - too easy to break within 6 months. If you're lucky, you'll have a good year with no place to store GARBAGE. That doesn't even include the possibility that the one you bought just rips the package to shreds, assuming you can even take the package out. And I've seen many come damaged from the start. So I gave up the search that same day. The next morning, feeling rested and determined, I decided to change my priorities. This bin was high enough that our dog couldn't get his nose in the lid. While the size of our remaining 13 gallon bags will slip if they get too heavy, there's no way for the can to rip the bag apart. The swivel cap is such a fundamental engineering concept that there is virtually no chance it will wear out over the years and stop working. It will be difficult for my hands to reach deep and clean it when the time comes, and yet it will be much easier to clean thoroughly than my previous one, as it is equivalent to washing a cup the size of a 4- or 5 year olds equals old. . And it doesn't look cheap. The dark gray color is actually very attractive. I was concerned about how difficult it would be to use when cooking, but the lid comes in two pieces. So when easy access is required I can remove the flip cover and the bag still secures with a ring. Finally, the size, while larger than I initially intended and a bit odd for the bin liner sizes available, is a game changer. Imagine making full use of your garbage bag instead of taking it out and seeing how much more you can put in it. The flip top lid doesn't restrict the size of items you throw away, as I would expect, and so far we haven't had any odor issues. Search like me, your search ends here. Save the extra $30+ you would have spent on other models. This one is worth it.
