The mat took up more space than I expected, based on the photos and ad, despite the lesser weight. It is a bit thicker than my previous travel mat but perhaps it is no more supportive than that thinner travel mat. Over time, because of the compressed section edges, there is a risk it will fall apart earlier than other travel mats with flat designs because the folding and unfolding will weaken those edges. So I am not optimistic on how well this mat will work and will use it because other reviewers had better opinions, but I will not replace it with this type of design or by this vendor.
