I use this to support a beatbox (NI Maschine 2) on the back of an expensive stage piano keyboard. I wouldn't do this if I didn't trust the mechanism or construction - if it fails, serious damage can result. I chose it for its height range (it can be higher than many of its competitors) and because the platform angle is NOT adjustable as I figured that would make failure more likely. I also needed a low and level base so I could slip under the back of the piano, which this unit does well. Overall the fit and finish is good with no ugly machining or sweat marks so I'm happy with my purchase. .To sum it up, it's easy to assemble and feels solid but looks good.
