Many here have already said that this scanner is not a professional tool. If you're scanning 110 or 126 film from an Instamatic camera of the day and don't want to make large prints, this scanner is probably fine. But if you're trying to save Grandpa's 35mm Kodachrome, this scanner doesn't do them justice. If you are making larger prints, the imperfections of this scanner may be visible in those prints. However, this thing is silly easy to use, pretty fast, and the build quality is pretty good. It comes with all the necessary cables and accessories. Auto exposure works most of the time, but image adjustment options on the scanner are fairly limited, Therefore, post-processing of your scans may be necessary. To illustrate what you're getting (or NOT getting) at this price point, I ran some comparison tests using a DSLR and a macro lens. Yes, it's about 10 times more expensive, but if you already have it, it's a much better option. I've uploaded some photos showing a 14MP DSLR capture at the top and a 22MP scanner output at the bottom. The object is an Ektachrome slide from the late 1970s. For this comparison, I did not try to correct the color or enhance the output from any device. Both output images in JPEG format. Full frame images appear to be comparable, but cropped images clearly show significant differences. Most obvious is that the specifications of the 14/22 MP scanner seem quite exaggerated. Yes, the resulting files contain 14 or 22 million pixels, but the sensor's native optical resolution is significantly lower. A very aggressive sharpening of the image can be seen in the scanner images, which again suggests that the resolution of the sensor is quite low. Do not get me wrong. There are many uses for this scanner and yours could be one of them. But don't get your hopes up too high for the image quality. which again suggests that the resolution of the sensor is quite low.
