Review on NERF Blaster Largest Whistler Blasting by Andre Hawkins

Big arrows = big fun!

While Hasbro has struggled in recent years to truly innovate or even compete with up-and-coming competitors, this fall they're going back to their roots with a goofy but ultimately incredibly happy series MEGA XL The Big Rig is the first offering and is available as a "budget" option for this line at a very reasonable price. What you get for around $20 is admittedly a giant blaster with a full 3-of-a-kind set. huge arrows. This is without a doubt the most interesting aspect of the MEGA XL range and they are almost twice the size of the already huge MEGA darts. The Big Rig itself is a simple straight piston design that loads with a sliding "handle" at the top of the blaster's rear end, with the top barrel being the one that actually fires. Underneath is a compartment for two additional MEGA XL darts. Ergonomically, the Big Rig is very heavy at the front and has an oddly small grip, making it a bit unwieldy considering it's essentially a full-size pistol. However, it projects MEGA XL darts a decent distance considering their weight and size, and the darts themselves are designed to whistle menacingly when fired. This is actually a very fun part of the blaster, as throwing huge, howling foam objects is an enjoyable experience, and the entry-level price seems fair for what it does. Ultimately, the Big Rig is by no means a new blaster design paradigm, but it does have enough of the old-school fun that Nerf is known for to make it a solid buy.
