Review on Fujifilm GFX 50S 51.4MP Mirrorless Medium Format Camera - Body Only by Mike Goodwin

Incredible picture quality!

The performance of this camera is exceptional. It has the best picture quality of any camera I have ever owned. To name a few of my favourites: Sony RX1RM2, Sony A7RM2, X-Pro 2 and Leica Q. GFX recently got me to sell my Sony A7RM2. Don't get me wrong, the cameras I just mentioned are great, but the FujiFilm GFX 50S produces images that regularly surprise me. When it comes to image quality I'm pretty pixel savvy so it's hard to really impress me. I realize I bought a system with a larger camera, but it's worth it (in my opinion) for the size and weight. leap in picture quality. In terms of handling, I find the GFX much more pleasant to photograph than the Sony A7RM2. To be honest, I don't like the position of the viewfinder on the Sony - it's too low in the camera. I always felt like craning my neck and actually sticking my nose into the LCD to see the viewfinder. GFX offers a much more natural recording experience. That alone makes up for the size and weight for me. The GFX is by no means huge, I'd say it's smaller than most standard DSLRs. It's about the same size as the Panasonic GH5. So far I've only tested 63mm f/2.8 and Pentax SMCP-FA 645 400mm. 120mm and 32-64mm macro lenses should be available soon. I hope I have something to add after testing these lenses.
