My daughter is very tall, 9 years old, she wears size 14. I ordered this skirt when she was 14 and it fits great. The ideal length is below the knee. My daughter likes to wear wedges, but children's skirts/dresses are not age appropriate as they are too short. This skirt is the perfect sweet spot for her to wear any shoe without looking out of place. I really like that her clothes are versatile, go with everything and look well tailored. They are not see-through and do not seal, even though they sit on the figure. I think this is a good outfit for teenagers but not too grown up.
