Review on Maximize Battery Performance with Auto Meter SB-300 Intelligent Handheld Battery Tester by Ghostnote Hankins

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This is what they use in Auto Zone

That's probably too much for any home mechanic unless you work on all of your friends' cars or have a few dying car batteries. In my ideal world, this device could do many other things and help you diagnose and test electrical problems in your vehicle. But that's not how these things work. This is a professional, sophisticated and easy to use battery tester. This is the exact unit they used the last time I drove my car into the Autozone to fix a battery issue. It shows you the capacity, discharge and cold start current. You just connect the wires to the battery and it does the rest (it will tell you if it's not set up properly). Although I know a little about cars, the instruction manual is simple enough for anyone to understand, although I'm not sure anyone other than an automotive professional would really need such a specialized device. A 9 volt battery is used. Everything about this device, from the design to the ease of use, the information provided and the export options available (printer or computer) is of professional/commercial quality. It has comfortable rubber side panels that also serve to absorb shock when dropped and prevent paint chipping. The clamps are small enough to fit on any terminal and are also well insulated. It runs on 6V or 12V and I was able to operate it with Mechanix gloves. It's just well thought out, well made, specialized professional kit that does one thing and does it really well.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Skimpy manual
