Review on Aiphone CCS 1A ChimeCom2 Single Door Answering by Stephanie Burke

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I'll take care of it, really this time.

My wife is sometimes home alone and she finds it uncomfortable to open the door to strangers. The outcome can be worse if the villains think the house is empty. It was a great replacement for the original doorbell. It was easy to install just below the existing doorbell in my hallway. Out of the house. I removed the wires going to the external button from the internal doorbell assembly, then removed the old doorbell assembly and the power wires attached to the doorbell. Transformer located in a box behind the old doorbell. Outside now. I removed the old bell button, attached the existing wires to the new button, and screwed the new button (screws included) to the wall. Back inside. Bracket for the intercom on the wall just below the old bell assembly (not through the wall studs), punched a hole in the drywall in the center of the bracket for the wires. Using a coat hanger I ran 2 sets of new wires (not included) from the intercom to the box for the old doorbell. I attached both sets of wires behind the intercom and attached the intercom to the bracket (screws included). Finally, in an old doorbell box, I connected 1 set of wires to the wires going to the external button and another set to the transformer (see attached diagram). It was easy to install. I think the hardest part was routing the wires from the doorbell along the wall to the new bracket because insulation got in the way. Setting on the main unit. The entire installation took about an hour and half of that time was spent pulling these 2 sets of cords 2 feet. 1 last step you need to close the box with a blank bezel or reinstall the old doorbell. When my wife asks, I'm still trying to make up my mind. ;)

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
