I give this pen 4 stars because having used several digital scanning pens before it works just like the others. Pros: - In terms of accuracy, I found this pen to be more accurate than most I've used. Note that you'll need to double-check the entry to make sure it was scanned correctly, but you should probably still do this every time you transcribe something. It's not perfect, but it's about 80% accurate when used as intended. Please note that if you have pen/pencil notes, highlighting, or numbered quotes in the entry, you will have some problems. Some people complain about the speed it takes to scan or that you have to keep them in a straight line. If you use the pen like a regular marker (angle like a pen, in a straight line at medium speed) you should get good results. - I thought it was too bulky but personally I think the size is good for control. - Scan to external documents such as Word and Scrivener. (You'll have to adjust this setting in their little toolbar, though, if you're having trouble with it). Cons - BRIGHTNESS. I haven't had this problem with other scanners but yeah if you focus on scanning the line properly you end up seeing this bright light and it can hurt your eyes after a few minutes. I'm not sure, like others do, but I made a little "shield" out of a sticker to make sure it didn't interfere with the scan line and that helped a lot. Definitely not perfect but a possible solution for those who need this item and have no other choice. - WEAR. My biggest complaint is that it seems to scratch the paper when I drag it. My TS-1 from C-Pen was like butter but not as accurate so I guess it's a compromise. Maybe it will get smoother with time and use. Overall, as someone working on my PhD who needs lots of notes and quick research, I find this incredibly helpful. If you type quickly and accurately, yes you could do it faster, but it's too tiring for me. I would have no hesitation in recommending it to any liberal arts student (in fact, I've recommended it to quite a few).
