See pictures for visual comparison (slightly messy version) of the old RT blush brush (I had to scrape off the black polymer below because it's in the got sticky over the years exposing the shiny plastic behind it) and the new version I got from Revain. It appears to be made of similar materials - an aluminum body with a base coated in a rubbery polymer. The colors are definitely different: the old version has a darker pink body, while the new version has a pink base instead of black. I'm a little concerned they kept the gum base as the old one's gum base became sticky and had to be rubbed off recently; however, this does not affect the function of the brush. The new brush also has a straight cylindrical body rather than the hourglass shape of the old version. The most important difference, however, is the brush head. The new version is fluffier and rounder than the old one, which is a bit more pointed. The bristles are still just as soft, although the newer version feels a little softer. This is probably due to a number of things: the newer version might be fluffier and less dense, and the older version I've probably had for about five years and has been used and cleaned many times. So far only a hair has fallen out the first time I brush the new brush, which is consistent with my old brush. I remember the old one losing maybe less than a handful of hairs overall, most of which fell out during the first few cleanings. Overall, I couldn't tell any difference in functionality. The RT Blush Brush is still my favorite blush brush whether I'm using the old version or the new version, and this is complemented by the ELF Studio Blush Brushes and Flat Top Brushes, the MAC Angled Blush Brush, and the Kabuki Ecotools Street Brush compared. . My cheeks are plumper and rounder (like a squirrel's), so the big fluffy heads distribute the blush nicely across the cheeks and don't make it look like a clown streak. Of course, I also gravitate toward more natural blushes like Tarte Exposed, which are definitely more forgiving when applying blush. The new brush is still very soft on my cheeks.
