Not as secure as Ram Mount Gooseneck

I bought this because I needed 3-4" more length than my current 18" Ram Mount Gooseneck (20") than the Ram Mount due to OEMs from different places need to measure the knot. The ram mount also features a larger diameter gooseneck for more support as well as much stronger and more convenient mounting hardware.A ball joint in the top of an Akron jib used to mount the mounting surface. In my case has the amplifier circuit is 7/8" in diameter instead of the more standard 1" diameter used by the Ram Mount. The Ram Mount Amplifier forms a short arm ball assembly and mounts it on the Akron to secure the device mounts as it fits well over the Akron -Ball mount is tightened, making the Akron a good mount now, a curved 9 degree 0 degree angle that is ok for vertically mounted seat bolts but doesn't work for horizontally mounted seat bolts like on my ram truck with no 90 degree gooseneck flex and loss of a few inches of headroom or corner mount flex right in the grip to make it work. In every respect, the Ram mount is superior in material and construction to the Akron mount. However, if you need a gooseneck longer than 18 inches, the Ram mount won't do it, and Akron will do whatever it takes for the subset of devices that the Ram mount supports with its greater carrying capacity.

Pros
  • Great Construction
Cons
  • Empty
