I'm not a professional but have had a DSLR for over 5 years. I bought another similar bag but the bottom part only contained the camera and accessories. After a few weeks I started to wonder if it was worth it because if I was traveling I would still have to take my bag with me. I wasn't planning on carrying the backpack around as I prefer a smaller side pocket for everyday travel use. Then I found this one. I immediately sent another bag back when I received this bag because it was perfect. The small pocket slides in and out easily. The upper compartment with zip offers plenty of space for additional electronics (charging cable, charger, headphones, etc.). I placed both my laptop and iPad/book in the back. I wish it was a bit bigger to fit an iPad and a couple of books or magazines, but I also carry the Fire HD by the zip right at the front. Plenty of room elsewhere I think for some or all of the typical things I travel with. I've taken it on hikes and car rides and it's still in perfect condition. I can't wait to try the ease of flying in about a month. I love that part of the zip between the two parts can be unzipped so it can be used as a regular backpack when needed and on my travels! I pack a DSLR with an 18-300mm lens and a small cleaning kit in a small bag. May not work with pros with multiple lenses or when carrying a flash or other large accessory is important.
