Review on Hosa CPP 890 Unbalanced Patch Cables by Steven Notsinneh

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Slim, flexible, bright and durable

I use these cables in a Moog style modular synth and they work great. They're thinner and more flexible than a typical Moog (or Synthesizers.com) patch cord, so they weigh less on flexible systems (lighter on the back of convertibles), flex better, and also have nice colors (stage appeal). - don't laugh, it's important!) I bought three packs of these for my compact system. The oldest set is around six months old so I can't comment on their durability compared to Moog/Dotcom type cables but I haven't had any issues with them. Note that these cables are fairly flexible; This is fine in a compact situation, but stiffer dot-com style coax cables are probably a better choice if you have (or plan to) have a larger system, since they have clearance from the panels and because dot-coms are stiffer compared to Hosa -Cables that are flexible enough to get tangled won't get tangled. Note that Hosa also makes them 1.5 feet long; I also have three sets for a compact system.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires an AC outlet
