I'm a big Sennheiser fan, I wear two pairs of Sennheiser CX300 II headphones back-to-back - in my opinion these are probably the best headphones for the price I've tried. When my last pair had an intermittent failure I had to try them out as the CX300 II was discontinued. What a disappointment. Build quality felt cheap, from the cables to the earbuds themselves, which didn't weigh at all. Lack of unbalanced cables (yes, they are better). The large shielded sound area has been replaced with a narrow Beats-style tube with a plastic bridge to prevent (ahem) ear material from penetrating deep into the kidney. The sound had a nice presence and stage, but lacked the rich bass and clarity of the CX300 II. Just weak and thin. The CX 3.0s were also ridiculously inefficient: I had to crank my phone at full volume to get audio that used to be at 2/3. Go through these. Serious. After a few more searches and Sennheiser's reluctant abandonment, I settled on Beyerdynamic Byrons. They look, feel and sound almost exactly like my old kidneys. There is no unbalanced cable, but there is a good microphone/remote control.
