Just Say NO to SSRIs

I am a Dietitian specializing in supplements and have used 5 HTP extensively in the past and have recommended it to my clients. I regularly use this product alone. Realize that there is no other source of serotonin in your brain than the single amino acid L-tryptophan, which is converted into 5 HTP (stands for HydroxyTryptophan) and then into serotonin. 5 HTP skips the conversion step and is converted directly into serotonin. SSRIs, also known as antidepressants, do NOT provide this nutrient, but actually deplete your stores in presynaptic neurons over time, just like when you snort cocaine or smoke methamphetamine, your dopamine stores decrease. Of course, it happens more slowly, but the end result is the same: try to give it up and you will find yourself in a very depressed state. The best and fastest and maybe only way out is to take this substance so that you can build up your real stores of serotonin. Some people use it to sleep. But in my opinion the best use of this substance is to heal your brain and give it the nourishment it needs to be healthy, positive and feel good. It absolutely works for me personally and for many others I know. Yes I am a little addicted to this product but if you know even a little bit about the brain chemistry of SSRIs and that it is a great alternative (should be the main treatment) I think you are too. SSRIs were prescribed. Most people know at least a few of them.
