Review on Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM FLD Lens: Large Aperture Standard Zoom for Canon DSLR - International Version (No Warranty) by Taufik Mohd Ghazali ᠌

Good value for money, I recommend.

In general, the lens is not bad. Interesting drawing, sharp, light. Perhaps one of the best staff for crop cameras. But you need to handle it very carefully - I staggered mine with a small fall of the camera from a height of about 30 cm - the trunk warped (one of the 3 mounts tore out and the plastic of the trunk burst) after 3 years of use, the stabilizer refused after 3 years of use (he, as it turned out, does not like shaking at all and even more falling) Well, my personal quibble is that you can’t tighten the focus during autofocus and the focus ring travels during autofocus. For me personally, it's not convenient. But you can live with it. In short, if you are not a hand-cutter and the toad is strangling to buy 17-55 from canon (it’s more convenient for me, but in some places it’s more interesting), then this sigma is a great option.

Pros
  • Good fast zoom. At 50mm, interesting bokeh, although not in the trash. The stabilizer is not bad at all
Cons
  • very weak trunk - plastic breaks with a small impact. There is no "twisting" focus with autofocus. Moderately works in backlight

Best option as a standard lens

There are no alternatives, especially for the money. You can't record a video with normal sound, even with an external microphone, the motor makes noise. Only through the loops.
