Easy to use but doesn't work well

Ok I decided to use one of the sharpeners that you just have to run a blade through rather than a rod or stone which takes time and a bit of skill. . Sorry, it's not the one to buy. Looks good, sounds like it should work, just doesn't sharpen the knife very well. I tried coarse, then medium, then fine 10 times. nope I've tried 3 times each, no. I tried once in each no. I have 1 coarse, 10 medium and 10 fine nos. So I came to the conclusion that this thing isn't working well.
