Poor soldering of the USB port
Be very careful with the USB port. Mine came bent and worked intermittently. It's no good leaving the modem plugged in, because the mc7455 Mini PCI-E card used here works about 20 percent of the time and only if you hold it so that the USB cable is in the right place. Sounds like a bad USB port or soldering. Always be wary of Chinese build quality.
