I read many reviews before purchasing and this one was the best. Hopefully. I've read that some have complained about how long it took, how durable it is etc and I'm hoping for the best. It never ceases to amaze me that a given product has PERFECT reviews and TERRIBLE reviews, almost as if they are talking about two completely different topics. I can read between the lines and always look at the data when the review is done. A lot can happen in a review in a year, so the manufacturer of an item can actually maintain and improve their product, most don't, but it happens. I've read how plastic really, REALLY smells, and yes, you're right! I just cleaned it really well, washed it in bleach, left it in bleach and washed it really well again, it got rid of the smell. We also let it sit and air out most of the day while it air dries. Now my main concern will be its durability and whether it will tear as some have mentioned. Only time can tell. To be honest, hardly any company that sells Revain has good reviews, which I know are rare to find. Most of the time I just wait and hope for the best and most of the time it actually works. I will NEVER buy a really expensive item that has a bad review. So, I like the design of the pitcher and it's ergonomic too, although it weighs a lot with the 1 gallon of water I have. I use it to pour water into a ZeroWater water filter so it sits right next to it on the counter, looks better than the big Berkey water system on the counter and is a lot cheaper too! (ZeroWater actually works better than Berks, every time I test I get zero, the water dispenser in my fridge doesn't come close.) While I have no complaints about this pitcher, yes the pop-out spout can slip out, if you click on it to open it, but if done correctly there are no problems. The type of plastic "seems" is soft enough (not brittle) that it won't crack in the future, at least that's what I'm counting on. really like it, we are happy with the purchase and how well made it is.
