We bought the house where the dog lived.
Sellers cleaned carpets. We cleaned the carpets before we moved in. My vacuum immediately produced a doggie stench when I used it. I disassembled the cleaner and cleaned it, replaced the filters. It STILL smells like dog. Nothing else I can do at the moment but the carpet will be ripped out and replaced with tiles when we hand it over in a few months. I learned my lesson a long time ago about renting a carpeted house. At least the smell overpowers the dog stench.
