I'm not tall so the bag itself was very long for me - too long . When I tried to make the strap shorter, the metal buckle hit me right on my collarbone (very uncomfortable). So I just adjusted the strap so the pocket hit me between my knee and mid-thigh, which was annoying but not unbearable when walking. Again, I'm 5ft 1in, so. Other than that, it worked great for what I needed for a 3 week trip to Europe. I put a water bottle in, you could probably also put a mini travel umbrella, your credit cards, snacks, passport in the zip/lock compartment etc. I will say I almost lost my credit cards on a number of occasions with inside pockets in the pockets. They were very loose for a card, so if I could pull something out, my cards would sometimes fly with it (kind of scary). I've just added three cards in an inside pocket, now that I'm home, I'll probably try to sew up the holes to fit a little tighter around my cards. As long as that is the case, I would make it more convenient to walk around. If you're tall, then this will suit you. If you're short, like me (see instead, the hobo version looks almost identical in detail, just better suited for people with limited height, IMHO.
