The almost insurmountable problem with this deterrent is that it will bark at the approach, even from YOU. It must be plugged in and then turned on manually. As soon as you turn on the beast, it barks wildly (the closer you get, the more it barks, chirps, or gargles, depending on your tone choice). The sensor covers 360 degrees, so sneaking up doesn't work. . You turn it on and then run so far that it stops - that's maybe 15 seconds of barking. The same if you want to turn it off! My solution was to install a remote control outlet so I could stand 20 feet away to turn it on or off without turning it off. Another issue is that it needs to be plugged in, so make sure there's an outlet nearby.
