Very, very skeptical when I received the goods. Favorable to the touch, plastic handles, Chinese packaging. The non-stick surface also bothered me a bit. Almost returned but the price was so low that I decided to test it. Glad you did! Intended to use for camping but did a test run on a stove. Both sides preheated, butter for butter used. The timing took a little practice, but then this little iron made delicious waffles! Easy cleaning. I'm deducting one star for the plastic handles - apparently I melt them on a gas stove but other than that I'm happy with the purchase!
