No Quality Control - Makeup Mirror

Do not buy this product. If I could give this product 0 stars, I definitely would. This is the SECOND defective product I have received. Both had the same fault, the light switch didn't work. Rather than sending this item back a second time, I repaired it myself, but it is clear that these products were never tested in a factory in China or once they arrived here in the US. Make your own conclusions about whether an untested electrical appliance is safe in the bathroom. I had already drilled through the bathroom wall for the mounting plate for the first one, so I decided to see what the problem was. I'm an Electronics Design Engineer so I know a little bit about electrical devices and manufacturing processes. The reason the light switch doesn't work is because it deforms during the assembly process - the "manufacturer" buys a rotary switch and adds a matching knob to the shaft. The handle pushes too hard on the shaft (there is nothing inside the handle to prevent this) and therefore puts so much pressure on the switch that the contacts cannot work. Removing the handle or unplugging it from the switch fixed this particular example - in other examples the switch can be irrevocably destroyed, I can't tell. Since there's nothing wrong with pushing the button too hard (happened to us before), this isn't a very good solution. If you look in the manual, the illustrations show a rocker switch, not a rotary switch - you can't have that problem with a decent rocker switch. A better quality rotary switch would also solve this problem. Also, these switches must have a nut that goes behind the mounting surface to properly adjust the distance of the switch from the mounting surface. In this example, no such nut was present - an oversized nut was thrown onto the outer shaft as a spacer. After two examples with the same error, it becomes clear that these products were not tested after final assembly.
