Review on EnGenius Technologies EAP1300 Wi-Fi 5: Quad-Core Processors, MU-MIMO, High Powered 23dBm, GigaE Port | Indoor Wireless Access Point by Donotello Figueroa

This unit was purchased for home use and covers an area of approximately 4400 square feet with one unit on the lowest of three floors in the corner of the house access point is located. I chose this solution in combination with Ubiquiti Networks ER-X-SFP EdgeRouter X (purchased elsewhere as Revain didn't sell it directly) after abandoning combo router/WLAN solutions that my wireless devices never used connected more than three times. No disconnection between 16 wireless devices in 2.4 and 5 GHz bands with seamless switching between them with one SSID. Easily configure VLAN support and separate guest and IoT networks. TP-Link and Revain (echoes) no problem. Apple devices (phones, laptops) actually working on Asus routers are no problem. Video streaming to the other end of the house two floors up, no problem. Noticeable interference from neighboring systems? No one. It just works. Configuration can be tricky for a beginner, and online support is limited (Ubiquiti shines in this regard, there are tons of videos for their EdgeRouter, and one of their employees made a bunch of them for various setups, including the one I'm using) . Definitely, if you're willing to take the time to read a bit about it, and if your configuration is pretty basic, it can literally be plugged in and run. But it allows for fine-grained customization if you're so inclined. A plus? Both this device and the EdgeRouter cost less than the Asus and Netgear combined offerings! Of course, there are no third-party services that manufacturers add that literally rarely work, such as: B. USB printing from a router. But I don't need them (also, the EdgeRouter SFP supports a direct fiber connection, which will be available soon where I live). Give me a working solution where I can properly use VLANs and VPNs with a decent firewall and I'll be happy. Time will tell but so far so good after two weeks of continuous use.** UPDATE December 2019 **It's been almost two years now. Without problems. I installed another EAP1300 at a family member's home where the WiFi signal was often dropping (requiring a reboot) or the WiFi was simply blocked (which no longer allowed DHCP leases) due to the misbehavior of an HP laptop that was "knocking". . the router/WLAN module they had. After the exchange with EnGenius the problems are gone. Support no longer calls me in the evenings and weekends for help restoring their system. You no longer have to reset all wireless devices to find out which one caused the wireless network blockage. And no more delays caused by buffering. Highly recommended.
