UPDATE 1/23/20 I've been using one of these as a mode actuator and the other as a mix actuator for several months with no problems. No calibration loss in climate control app, excellent OEM product, made in Korea. UPDATE: 11/08/19: USED AS A MIXING DOOR OPERATOR. It worked fine as a mode actuator in a 2003 Suburban for several weeks. I've heard of other cases where the same part has been used as a temperature actuator (mixed door) and I decided to take a picture and use it for my actuator for use the automatic air conditioning on the passenger side. The rail that comes with this model is removed from the drive and you just have the device. I was a bit apprehensive about using it in the wing position but I just finished the job and it's perfectly calibrated as a wing actuator using the same list of steps below. I got it instead of the original GM part no. 52402588 which has been removed. The job itself took about 4 hours as I had to remove the passenger airbag and the Onstar module takes up a lot of work space so it was a very tight spot and to do this I disconnected the negative battery cable. I used a 5.5mm thru-hole ratchet to loosen the mounting screws, there were only two screws but they were a nightmare to get to. I'll be updating in a few weeks to make sure I don't have any issues using this mode actuator in a different function. ORIGINAL: First of all, yes, my product was made in Korea, but that doesn't stop it from being an authentic product. Do a little research folks. NOTE: REMEMBER TO INSTALL THE DRIVE FULLY, DO NOT LEAVE IT RUNNING, SIMPLY PLUGGING IN THE PLUG AND SWITCHING ON WILL OVERLOAD THE DRIVE INTERNAL GEARS AND DO IT! I used this as an actual mode drive for a 2003 Suburban with automatic temperature control. The mode cog is squeezed hard but it falls apart, just don't pry it side to side, it fits straight up. Didn't use a new gearbox, just an actuator, but after recalibrating the AC it worked great. My mode just hangs in the legs, now it works on all settings. Note: The mounting screws were 5.5mm. DISCLAIMER: PERFORM THE RECALIBRATION STEPS AT YOUR OWN RISK. Level 3) and set the temperature controls to about 0.5″ to 0.75″ full cold. For automatic systems, with the ignition on, press the automatic mode button. Turn off the ignition. Disconnect the fuse box under the hood* or the battery for one minute.* The location of the fuses may differ depending on the year and model. Install HVAC fuse or reconnect battery. Start the motor. On systems with automatic climate control, the default temperature is 74 degrees Fahrenheit when the ignition is turned back on. DO NOT touch the air conditioner controls. Run the engine for 1-2 minutes. Turn off the ignition for at least 10 seconds but no more than 30 seconds. Restart the engine and then check the air conditioning controls.
