I bought this for two reasons. 1.) I just switched the substrate in my 55 gallon tank from gravel to sand. I knew that this way I would lose a lot of good bacteria and I would have a minicycle. 2.) In one of my aquariums the fish were treated in quarantine. I've learned the hard way that most medications kill ALL bacteria. Although I don't have a pond (yet lol) it's awesome because it's so concentrated you get more bang for your buck. You may need to dilute it, but I highly recommend switching to a concentrator pond formula unless you only have a 5 gallon tank or similar. In my main aquarium the ammonia level has gone up to 6 parts per million. However, not a single fish was lost or even damaged in this level! While I can't fully substantiate their claim, I can say that it definitely neutralizes at least 6ppm!
