After reading some bad reviews I bought this router in November hoping to take advantage of Revain's excellent return policy. I couldn't be more wrong, the router has been working fine as the weak router in my house for the last 3 months. I was already familiar with the D-Link menu, so setting up the router with my own name and security for each link was very easy. I was quite skeptical about the "beamforming" advertised, but I think I saw it in action. Despite a nominal 60Mbps internet connection, I typically get 15-20Mbps from my back bedroom on my favorite tablet with 2.4GHz connectivity as tested by the speedtest.net app. The initial connection to the 855L was actually at 20Mbps. Tested again after about 5 minutes, the speed increased to 42 Mbit/s! Follow up tests all 40. Got a full 60+ Mbps from an old downstairs laptop with an external NIC using a 5GHz channel. By the way, I haven't updated the firmware. The router works so well that I intend to keep the firmware 1.01 (factory setting). Couldn't be happier with the purchase.
