Review on INNOVA 3612 Compression Tester Piece by Jason Sergeantson

Revainrating 2 out of 5

UPDATE, broken. for diagnostic, test and gauge equipment

I've used this on 3 different vehicles. I have used this to test the compression of used cars before I buy them to make sure they are in good condition. It is difficult to tell if a cylinder is leaking unless it is already in the symptomatic stage. So you know immediately whether you have to go or an expensive repair is imminent. Works great and pretty accurate as far as I can tell. Comes with a set of different connectors for different types of plugs. UPDATE 8/3/17: Sensor now registers 45psi when not in use. It has never been abandoned or abused and I started using it when trying to use it for the first time in months. In addition to being misleading, the gauge is quite leaky, giving false readings on the cylinders. I'm using a friend's unit to compare to this one and it falls far short on both the initial read at a 45psi setting and the holding pressure. It worked great at first, but not for long. I think I will have to take a more expensive device.

Pros
  • Works on motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles and personal watercraft including traditional electronic and computer controlled domestic and import vehicles
Cons
  • Not bad but...
