Imagine your socks getting flexible and stretching when they get wet - and you'll know what they're doing when they hit the water. If I hadn't believed the many reviews saying they are true to size and ordered a whole size smaller I might have been ok. But 20 minutes in the pool (water aerobics) the inside of the sole slipped and the rear buckle dug into my Achilles tendon. (Because they were so big I had to pull them up a bit to hold them on my feet!) It would be fine if you're just having fun if you can handle other stuff. I sent them back once they were dry. Oh, and the rubber/oil smell was overwhelming when I took them out of the box!
