I like these sieves - I mainly wanted them for sifting flour, but I also wanted something more universal (for sifting pasta, rehydrated mushrooms, seeds for jam, etc.) than a conventional sieve. So far I've only used them to sift flour and they've done a great job. As others have pointed out, the filters are well made - they are smooth with no sharp edges. I love these filters but I think the reviews may be a bit over the top - After posting my review I received an offer to give the product away. Let's see if I can get a gift without a 5 star rating. Otherwise, the only downside to these filters is that they're slightly unbalanced - the handle is heavier than the opposite side, which means I have to be a little careful to keep them from tipping. With flour/something else it's less of a concern.
